Hi,
The bar spacing is just perfect especially for females which are a great deal smaller than males. I reckon a hamster could live in one as well (not with the rats of course). I have added a rope bridge and a hammock and I can put their food bowls through the side. I am well chuffed. What is really great is the large door. It means you can get your pets out easily without having to squeeze your hand through some of the smaller doors that come with most cages.
